Board Members Take Oath of Office

December 6, 2011 - Three new members and two returning members of the Wake County Board of Education took the oath of office this afternoon. In a ceremony that filled the boardroom, new members Susan Evans, Christine Kushner, Jim Martin, and returning members Kevin Hill and Keith Sutton were sworn into office.

Each new member took the oath with a judge and participants they selected.

Evans took the oath of office with Judge NC Superior Court Judge Abraham Jones, while her husband Chuck Evans held the Bible for her. Evans, who lives in Apex, represents District 8.

Kushner took the oath of office with former Chief Justice of the NC Supreme Court Henry Frye, while her father Chrysostom Manuel held the Bible for her. Kushner, who lives in Raleigh, represents District 6.

Martin took the oath of office with NC District Judge Debra Sasser, while his wife Linda and children Erika and Joshua held the Constitution for him. Martin, who lives in Apex, represents District 5.

Hill took the oath of office with Senior Administrative Law Judge Fred G. Morrison, Jr., while his wife Patrice held the Bible for him. Hill, who lives in Raleigh, represents District 3.

Sutton took the oath of office with NC Superior Court Judge Michael Morgan, while his mother held the Bible for him. Sutton, who lives in Raleigh, represents District 4.

The ceremony concluded with board vice chairman John Tedesco welcoming the new members to the board and inviting those present to a reception to honor the newest members of the Wake County Board of Education.
