Saturday, October 23 is Make A Difference Day for Literacy
The Wake County Public School System’s community service project, designed to assist students in need of additional literary assistance, will soon be coming to an end. There are only a few days left for you to participate and help make a real difference in the life of a Wake County Student.
As we lead up to the 20th anniversary of the nationwide Make a Difference Day on Oct. 23, we need families and community members to create and donate Early Literacy Kits. WCPSS is hoping to collect 5,000 kits by noon on Oct. 23. The kits will be distributed by our elementary schools to students who have been identified for being at risk of not being on reading level this year.
Created by USA Weekend Magazine, Make a Difference Day encourages all Americans to become involved through volunteerism to help others. The event is held each year on the fourth Saturday of October.
