Wake County residents with a desire to teach are able to earn income by offering classes that appeal to Lifelong Learning students. WCPSS Community Services is now accepting Course Intent Packets for applicants interested in creating, designing and marketing their own continuing education course for the spring semester of Lifelong Learning with Community Schools.
While not considered Wake County Public School System employees, Lifelong Learning instructors operate as their own business. They decide on teaching materials, the schedule, duration, and fees for their course. Lifelong Learning instructors have the opportunity to offer their classes at designated WCPSS school campuses in the evenings. Program participation requires instructors pay a small fee per student to cover facility use. The course will then be advertised inside the Expand Catalog and Community Services website. There is unlimited income earning potential particularly for high demand subject areas focused on job-skills training and entrepreneurship. Lifelong Learning instructors also experience success teaching guitar lessons, or leading a cooking, web design or fitness class.
Lifelong Learning is currently recruiting teachers for these specific courses:
- Medical Transcription
- Line Dancing
- Cupcake Design
- Zumba
- Typing
- Legal Transcription
- Internet Security for Laymen
- Classroom Management for Teachers
To apply as a teacher is easy; applicants must complete a Course Intent Packet and submit a resume and course outline. Course Intent Packets are available online at http://cs.wcpss.net/lifelonglearning. The deadline to submit materials to be considered for the Spring semester is September 1. For more information, contact Natasha Baldwin-Garcia at 850-1830 or send an e-mail to lifelonglearning@wcpss.net.
