Tdap Vaccination Deadline

Students entering the sixth grade on or after August 1, 2008, are required by law to have a Tdap booster shot if five or more years have passed since their last tetanus shot. The deadline was September 23, 2008 - after that date, students not immunized or without proof of an immunization appointment will be prohibited from attending school.

In order for your child to attend school, please make sure you bring a copy of your child's shot record including the Tdap booster to their school. If your child has not yet received the shot, but has a scheduled appointment to receive the shot, per Dr. David Damsker of Wake County Human Services the appointments must be scheduled on or before October 24, 2008. You will need to present the appointment card showing the date, time and provider to the school.

If your child does not have a healthcare provider you may call Wake County Human Services at 919/212-7000 for an immunization appointment.
