International Baccalaureate - High School

Theme Description

  1. Offers final two years of the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme
  2. Strong emphasis placed on ideals of international understanding, responsible citizenship, and service.
  3. Rigorous and balanced two year program of university level coursework that leads to IB examinations
  4. Diploma students take six subjects and write a 4,000 word extended essay, complete a course in theory of knowledge and complete a number of creativity, service and action and service (CAS) projects
  5. Students who qualify via IB examinations receive the IB Diploma recognized by universities throughout the world

All levels of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme:

  • Offer study across a broad range of subjects
  • Promote international understanding and a global perspective
  • Emphasize the learning of a second language
  • Develop responsible members of a community
  • Promote the attributes of he IB learner profile

  • Visit Millbrook Magnet HS and explore the International Baccalaureate Programme at Open House on November 18th at 9:00 am or 7:00 pm
  • Join us for parent information sessions at 10AM on the first and third Tuesdays from Sept - Feb at the Magnet Resource Center.
  • Many magnet schools have holiday concerts and performances in December, followed by another round of open house events in January. Visit individual school websites or call for more info!

Objectives

Magnet Programs will be used to foster healthy schools throughout the Wake County Public School System by using choice to help:

  • Reduce high concentrations of poverty and support diverse populations
  • Maximize use of school facilities
  • Provide expanded educational opportunities
