Overview

The Partnership for Educational Success (PES) is a partnership between the Wake County Public School System and Wake County Human Services whose mission is:

To develop, implement, and fund strategies that result in improved educational performance of children, improved family involvement in the educational process of their children, improved coordination of support services by staff of both agencies, increased utilization of support services by families, and the elimination of system barriers to educational success.

PES seeks to promote partnerships among families, systems, and communities.

The vision of PES is:

  • Families will support their children's successful development.
  • Children will be ready for school.
  • Children and youth will be successful in school.

Underlying the mission and vision is a belief that all families want their children to be successful and that all families have strengths. PES builds on this through the use of short term, solution-focused family empowerment strategies to help families support their children's educational success and to teach families how to access needed services and mobilize their natural support systems.

PES site teams work with the school based student support teams to strengthen the support team process. PES works with communities to develop after school and summer programming opportunities for vulnerable children. Administrators from both systems work to identify and eliminate system barriers to family and community involvement.
