Elementary Mathematics Assessments
Use of the Mathematics Observational Profile or eMARC is required
by all classroom teachers and is to be marked five times each year (once
each quarter and again as a summative documentation at the end of the
year).
In the fall of 2000, Wake County teachers in grades K- 2 began to administer
new quarterly assessments and the year-end summative assessment to determine
student needs and progress throughout the year. All new kindergarten, first and
second grade teachers should receive the assessment training before the end
of the first quarter. The assessment is used district-wide to meet requirements
of the state Board of Education.
The elementary math department provides student assessment booklets and teacher
manuals.
