March 24, 2004 - The number of students in the proposed Growth Management plan for 2004-2005 has been reduced by 100, after the Wake County Board of Education's four-hour work session yesterday.

Growth Management Student Assignment Proposal Timeline
January 13, 2003 - This timeline lays out the steps leading to the Board's approval of the student assignment plan for the 2004-05 school year. The process began with community engagement meetings in September 2003 and includes additional opportunities for public input.

New Schools Information
The Wake County Public School System is opening seven new schools in the 2004-05 school year. This page collects basic information about these new schools, including principal name, experience and contact information. Principals have been named for six of the seven schools.

PLAN 2004 Resource Center
On October 7, 2003, Wake County voters approved a $450 million school bond referendum. Called PLAN 2004, the program covers 2004-08 and includes building 13 new schools and a pre-kindergarten center, comprehensive renovations at 16 schools, and repairs and re-roofing projects at 61 campuses for $550 million. PLAN 2004 is one segment of a continuous capital improvement program to address the demands and responsibilities associated with growth.

March 24, 2004 - The number of students in the proposed Growth Management plan for 2004-2005 has been reduced by 100, after the Wake County Board of Education's four-hour work session yesterday.

Fewer Students In Proposed Growth Management Plan
March 2, 2004 - The proposed growth management plan that will fill seven new schools opening next year was presented to the Wake County Board of Education today. After listening to community input from a two-week comment period, WCPSS staff presented a proposed plan to the board that included 550 fewer students.

Assignment Hearings Set For March 17
March 2, 2004 - The Wake County Board of Education will hold public hearings March 17 on the growth management proposed plan to fill seven new schools in 2004-2005.
