November 2004 CEM Comments
The following comments were made by participants in the November Community Engagement Meeting on their question cards.
You are all educators, where are the prominent business leaders? You need input from successful people - A Donald Trump in effect!
Keep community based schools. No year-round schools.
To accommodate additional students at Root Elementary this year, we converted storage space into classrooms that are smaller than average classrooms. We have no space for additional mobiles (which was mentioned tonight) and I see the increase of students for next year. Our students miss lots of "teaching time" in waiting to use the minimal bathroom facilities.
North Ridge Elementary success is largely due to parental (base) involvement. Re-assigning would be detrimental to the school and neighborhood.
One of my concerns is how and where will our elementary children go since there are no middle schools coming on board. My second concern is Lead Mine Elementary is above 40% F&R, I am concerned that we will begin to lose our qualified teachers and administration. We need some non-F&R students to attract our neighbors.
