If a parent has a problem with a teacher or staff member at a particular school, they should contact that school's principal.

If the principal does not respond satisifactorily, or if the problem is with the principal, they may contact the area assistant superintendent responsible for that school.

You can find area superintendent responsibility in the Area Superintendents' section of this website.

Area assistant superintendents can also be reached using the Central Services mailing address, Wake County Public School System, 5625 Dillard Drive, Cary, NC 27518.

If the problem is still not resolved, a student, parent or guardian may initiate the grievance procedure as outline in Board Policy 6520. This is a formal process, and each step must be followed as stated in the policy.

The sequence of steps is as follows: teacher, assistant principal or principal, area superintendent, superintendent, Board of Education.
