Goal
WCPSS students will demonstrate high academic growth; by 2014, all students will graduate on-time prepared to compete globally.
(Adopted December 2, 2008, by the Wake County Board of Education)

Dr. Carl Boyd once said “No one rises to low expectations!” The Board understands the importance of communicating high expectations for every student in our schools. We adopted this goal to acknowledge our commitment, and to let our schools and community know that we will do everything necessary to prepare all students to graduate on-time prepared to compete globally. In doing so, we must partner with students, parents, business supporters, and volunteers while remaining mindful that it is our responsibility to provide the best educational opportunities for all children in Wake County.
-- School Board Chair Kevin L. Hill

Every part of this goal is a serious responsibility. Our schools and I are held accountable for ensuring that every child -- your child -- is challenged and succeeds in a strong and healthy school each year. Meeting this goal is simply the right thing to do; our schools must not "write off" any child. Instead, each child must leave our schools ready to thrive in a challenging, rapidly changing economy.
-- Superintendent Del Burns
Mission
The Wake County Public School System will educate each student to be a responsible and productive citizen who can effectively manage future challenges.
