  • Three GMHS Seniors win MSA Scholarship

    IB Diploma Programme seniors Ryan Calhoun, Nicole Root, and Kaitlyn Francis are recipients of the Magnet Schools of America scholarship. Wake County acknowledged ten seniors who received this award at the Magnet Schools of America national conference held in Raleigh, NC.

    Garner wins NCHSAA 4A boys basketball championship

    CHAPEL HILL Julius Barnes knew his team was calm – and so was he. The Garner senior point guard had just watched as Charlotte Ardrey Kell completed its erase job on what had been an 18-point first-half deficit, taking its first lead of the night. Barnes quickly drove down court, pulled up and drained a 3-pointer, then hit another on Garner’s next possession to put the Trojans back in control for good.

    Garner Relay for Life

    Garner held its 18th annual Relay for Life event Friday and Saturday. Garner’s teams raised more than $14,000 both days for cancer research in hopes to find a cure for the deadly disease that has killed so many. Garner teams have raised $132,758.95 for the year as of April 25.

  • Commissioner’s Cup years in the making for Garner

    Shaun Williams and Hunter Lesslie wanted the chance to play in the annual student-faculty basketball game at Garner High School a few years ago, just like any other Trojan who loves basketball would. And that — to be treated like anyone else is — is the simple thing any special needs student like Williams or Lesslie wants most from their school experience says Garner teacher Jane House.
