How are hearing evaluations conducted by the school system?

Mass hearing screenings are conducted on all kindergarten students. The following students also receive hearing screenings: those referred to Student Support Team, those in the Special Education Evaluation or Re-evaluation process and those referred by parent request. If a child fails two school hearing screenings, a school system audiologist completes further testing. If a full, comprehensive hearing evaluation is needed, the parent is contacted and asked to bring their child to the Audiology Testing Center located at 3600 Wake Forest Road in Raleigh.
