What literacy program is used in Wake County Public Schools?
CategoriesDepartment |
Wake County Public Schools supports a K-5 balanced literacy program. This is illustrated in the WCPSS Reading Model that encompasses the five components of effective reading instruction and the WCPSS Writing Model that illustrates the five features of effective writing. Teachers use the Literacy Profile Cards and pacing guides based on the NC Standard Course of Study to guide their instruction. They may draw upon a variety of resources including Houghton Mifflin North Carolina Reading, leveled bookrooms, K-5 Writing Support Document, and the GOT (Goal Objective Template) to assist them in planning and delivering appropriate instruction.
