How do I file a grievance?

Department

It is desirable for an employee and his/her immediate supervisor to resolve problems through free and informal communication. However, should such an informal process fail to resolve the situation, an employee may file a grievance in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Grievance Policy. No grievance shall be heard unless it has been filed in writing on the appropriate form within thirty (30) calendar days after the act or condition giving rise to the grievance and states with particularity the basis for the grievance and the remedy sought. Grievance packets may be obtained from the office of the Assistant Superintendent of Employee Relations for Human Resources. A grievance is defined as a formal written complaint by an employee or group of employees that a final administrative decision violates, misapplies, or misinterprets a specified federal law, State law, State Board of Education policy, State rule, local board policy or administrative regulation and procedure, or an employee has been subject to an unsafe working condition.
