The Disability Income Plan of North Carolina provides short-term disability, extended short-term disability, and long-term disability benefits at the employer's expense for permanent full-time employees of WCPSS who meet certain state service requirements.

After working with the Human Resources Administrator regarding the medical leave situation, and providing the necessary medical documentation, an employee may choose to go out on short-term disability. At that time, the employee will need to work with the HR Disability Administrator, who may be contacted at 854-1759.

The North Carolina Department of the State Treasurer and the Board of Trustees of the Teachers' administer the Disability Income Plan of North Carolina and State Employees' Retirement System within the terms and conditions of the Plan as set forth in the North Carolina General Statutes.

Detailed information on the Disability Income Plan is available in the booklet Your Retirement Benefits published by the State Retirement System (919/733-4191).
