Surveys
In keeping with the commitment of WCPSS to continuous improvement and accountability, the Data and Accountability Department conducts surveys of parents, students, teachers and school administrators (and occasionally other WCPSS staff). We seek to provide objective and accurate information to decision-makers, stakeholders, and other audiences. Some survey items are used over time to reflect trends, while others change to reflect current issues. Some projects have used samples, while others have involved all members of a group.
While some survey results are shared only with schools, others are analyzed and summarized at the district level. Available reports can be found on our reports by topic page.
Staff Survey
The source and content of the survey vary by year. The North Carolina Governor’s office conducts a Teachers’ Working Conditions survey every two years. For the last several years, teachers have been surveyed on their use of Professional Learning Communities. WCPSS has also surveyed teachers on topics such as job satisfaction, school programs, or special initiatives.
Graduate Intentions Survey
The Graduate Intentions Survey is administered to each high school student in his or her senior year. Each senior is asked to indicate his or her intentions regarding further education or employment. School staff now enter this information directly into the NCWise student database. A list of graduates and a summary of their intentions are reported to the state each summer.
