Testing
Contact: Carol L. Jenkins, Senior Director, (919) 856-3788
The Testing Office ensures that State Board of Education policies and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) guidelines are followed before, during, and after testing related to the North Carolina ABCs program and the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. Subsequently, we ensure a high quality data collection process that maintains the integrity of the data used to measure student improvement. Our mission is to collaborate with schools, other WCPSS departments, and NCDPI to ensure the proper and timely administration of tests.
Student tests results play an increasingly important role in North Carolina's ABCs program and in the U.S. Department of Education NCLB initiative. Test results are used as one component in promotion/retention decisions in grades 3 – 8, and also as a component in the High School Exit Standards.
Wake County has multiple testing calendars that are related to the type of school in which your child is in membership.
