    Good afternoon Families.  On behalf of the staff and teachers of East Millbrook, I would like to thank you for a great school year.  We look forward to new students joining us in 6th grade and we wish the very best for our students going to high school. Have a marvelous summer vacation with family and friends.

    Good afternoon East Millbrook Academy families.  This is your principal, Eric Fitts, with some news and updates for our Cougar community for the week of June 5, 2017. 

     

    • Do we have your most current address? If you have moved, but not updated your address with us, you may not receive a report card when it is mailed out later this month.  To update your information, please bring a current electric bill, water bill, gas bill or a new lease or settlement statement to the school. 

     

    • We will have our Awards Assemblies this week. Students who will be recognized were given a notice to take home to share with their families.

     

    Wednesday, June 7 – 6th Grade at 11:00 AM

    Thursday, June 8 – 7th Grade at 11:45 AM

    Friday, June 9 – 8th Grade at 8:30 AM

               

    All assemblies will take place in the auditorium. 

     

    • Please be advised that WCPSS dress code policy is still in effect and being enforced until the last day of school. Pajamas are not permitted during the school day and leggings must be worn with long shirt/jacket.  Additionally, if students wear torn/ripped jeans, they must have leggings or shorts under the jeans.  Thank you for your support and together we can make the rest of this year, the best of the year!

     

    • The last day of school for students is Friday, June 9.

  • Principal's Weekly Message - May 29, 2017

    Good afternoon East Millbrook Academy families.  This is Eric Fitts, your Principal, with some news and updates for our Cougar community for the week of May 29, 2017. 

    • Please enjoy the Memorial Day holiday and we will see all kids returning on Tuesday, May 30 for their continued EOG testing.
    • Please know that the cafeteria will be providing free breakfast for all students on Tuesday, May 30. Students will only need to come to the cafeteria to receive this free meal. 
    • Attention all 6th and 7th grade parents.  Course Recommendations and elective choices for next year were sent home with students last Friday.  The last day for students to return the form is Tuesday.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Winters or Ms. Risalvato.
    • If your child has signed up for Band or Orchestra, we are so happy to have you join our wonderful Performing Arts program! Band and Orchestra will have the "Try out the instrument night" in August.  Dates will be announced over the summer."

    • The last day, backpacks (of any kind) will be allowed on campus is Tuesday, May 31. After that date, backpacks will no longer be allowed on campus.  Please have your child keep their backpacks at home for the remainder of this year. 
    • Attention 8th Grade Parents: Students who are meeting promotion standards have been given permission forms for the 8th grade semi-formal dance.  Tickets will be sold on Tuesday, May 30th through Thursday, June 1st. Individual tickets are $15 or two for $25. The dance will take place on Friday, June 2nd from 6-9 PM. The dress code has been printed on the permission form. Students must attend school on the day of the dance in order to be eligible to attend.

    Good afternoon East Millbrook Academy families.  This is Eric Fitts, your Principal, with some news and updates for our Cougar community for the week of May 22, 2017. 

     

    • Parents of current 6th and 7th graders.  Teachers and counselors are updating recommendations for class placement next school year.  Your students will bring home 2017-18 course registration information on Friday, May 19. Please send a signed copy of the form back to school with any questions or change requests that you have on Monday. Also, you can speak with Ms. Risalvato (7th grade counselor) or Ms. Winters (6th grade counselor). 

     

    • The next PTSA meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 23 in the media center at 6:00 PM. If you are interested in joining the PTSA Board, please send their names to

    Mrs. Santiago (Treasurer/heathersantiago3@gmail.com), Mr. Hostler (President/hostlerb@gmail.com) or call the school at (919) 850-8755 and leave your contact information with Ms. Roberson. 

     

    • The Orchestra Concert will take place on Thursday, May 25 at 7:00 in the auditorium. Prepare to be entertained by this award winning group, led by our Strings Director Mrs. Holloman. 

     

    • Parents/Guardians we need proctors on May 30 and May 31 to help with EOG testing.  If you would like to sign up there is an online link on the school website or you may contact your student's guidance counselor.

     

     

    • We are asking that you support the school policy with students and bookbags.  Our students are not permitted to carry bookbags throughout the school day, but yet, some students are violating this expectation.  When students arrive on campus, they should place their bookbags in their assigned lockers and carry their needed school materials to class.  Students are then permitted to get their bookbags out of their lockers between 8th and 9th period.  Please encourage your child to follow this school policy and daily expectation.

    Good afternoon East Millbrook Academy families.  This is Eric Fitts, your Principal, with some news and updates for our Cougar community for the week of May 15, 2017.

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy families.  This is Eric Fitts your principal with important news and updates for our Academy community.

    Parents/Guardians we need proctors on May 30 and May 31, 2017 to help with EOG testing.  If you would like to sign up there is an online link on the school website or you may contact your student's guidance counselor.

     

    We are asking that you support the school policy with students and bookbags.  Our students are not permitted to carry bookbags throughout the school day, but yet, some students are violating this expectation.  When students arrive on campus, they should place their bookbags in their assigned lockers and carry their needed school materials to class.  Students are then permitted to get their bookbags out of their lockers between 8th and 9th period.  Please encourage your child to follow this school policy and daily expectation.   

     

    This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Our teachers work hard on a daily basis to provide a quality educational experience for our students! We would like to engage your support as we honor our teachers this week here at East Millbrook and across the world!

     

    Monday is Momentous Monday:  Using construction paper or their own choice of paper, we want students to create a card celebrating their teachers and their hard work and submit it to their teacher before leaving class. 

     

    Tuesday is Teacher Tools Tuesday:  Teachers loves pens, markers, paper clips, etc.  Find out what your teacher needs and try to help supply it! No gift is too small.

     

    Wednesday is Woo-Me Wednesday:  Teachers love chocolate!!! Let’s shower them with chocolate Wednesday!

     

    Thursday is Thoughtful Thursday:  Students should use Monday through Wednesday to find out some of their teachers’ favorite things and give a thoughtful gift to them on Thursday or write your teacher a thank you note or post it note and submit it to them!

     

    Friday is High Five Friday:  All day long we want students to give our teachers high fives letting them know how awesome they are!

  • Principal's Weekly Message - April 24th, 2017

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy families.  This is Terrence Canady, your administrative intern with important news and updates. 

     

    This is an important message regarding registration for rising 7th and 8th graders at East Millbrook next year.  These students are beginning course selections for next school year with counselors.  Next week, your student should bring home a verification sheet to go over with you and return signed.  Any change requests should be returned at that time.  Once you go over this information with your student, should you have questions, contact Ms. Winters for rising 7th grade or Ms. Risalvato for rising 8th grade.

     

    Thursday, April 27th is East Millbrook’s Open House for all families joining the Academy family for the 2017-2018 school year from 6-7 in the school courtyard.

    Theatre at East Millbrook presents Just Like Us by Craig Sodaro on April 27 at 7:00 PM and April 28 at 10:00 AM in the auditorium.  Admission at the door $5.00 Adults, $3.00 Students with concessions available in the lobby.  Join us in a celebration of a little peace, love, and understanding as we ask, "Are we really all that different?"  Let the journey begin...

    Please join us for the WCPSS Board Advisory Committee meeting on April 24th at 5:30PM, hosted by Durant Road Middle School.  We will get an overview of the 2017-2018 WCPSS budget.

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy families.  Welcome back from Spring Break! We hope that you have enjoyed this much-needed time with family and friends.  This is Terrence Canady, your administrative intern with important news and updates.

     

    Honor roll celebrations for A and A/B honor roll students will take place on Tuesday, April 18 in the Auditorium.  Sixth grade will be held at 11:45 am, 7th grade at 8:20 am and 8th grade at 9:20 am.  We look forward to seeing many families there on Tuesday, April 18.

     

    Attention 8th Grade Parents:

    A parent meeting for students attending the 8th grade DC trip will be held on Monday, April 17 at 6 pm in the auditorium. Please plan to attend.  Do not forget the 8th grade DC trip is April 19th – 21st.

  • Principal's Weekly Message - March 27th, 2017

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy families.  This is Terrence Canady your administrative intern with your news and updates for the upcoming week.

     

    Monday, March 27th will be Spring Sports pictures. Students have received instructions from Coach Pettiford.

     

    This week in sports we will have a home track meet Tuesday, March 28th against Durant Middle.  Wednesday, March 29th there is an away soccer game against Leesville at 4:00 p.m.  Thursday, March 30th there is an away softball game at Wakefield at 4:00 p.m. Let’s go out and support our Cougars.

     

    Please be reminded that Friday, March 31st is a regular school day!

     

    Parents, thank you for your help concerning the use of blankets at school. We would like to solicit your help in another area.  Back packs of any sort are NOT to be worn throughout the school day.  Students are to leave their backpacks in their lockers during the school day.  If students do not have a locker or lock, they need to see their homeroom teacher or grade level counselor.  Thank you for your help with this matter.

     

    Finally, Wednesday, March 29th marks the end of the 3rd 9 weeks of school.  We have had a successful school year thus far and we look forward to the continuation of success in the final 9 weeks of school.
