    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy families.  This is Terrence Canady, your administrative intern with important news and updates. 

     

    This is an important message regarding registration for rising 7th and 8th graders at East Millbrook next year.  These students are beginning course selections for next school year with counselors.  Next week, your student should bring home a verification sheet to go over with you and return signed.  Any change requests should be returned at that time.  Once you go over this information with your student, should you have questions, contact Ms. Winters for rising 7th grade or Ms. Risalvato for rising 8th grade.

     

    Thursday, April 27th is East Millbrook’s Open House for all families joining the Academy family for the 2017-2018 school year from 6-7 in the school courtyard. 

     

    "Attention 8th Grade Families!!    8th Grade Students should be in the final parts of their Community Project. All 8th graders were to have completed at least 5 hours by the last deadline on April 4th.  Their next deadline is May 2nd when they will turn in their process journal to their adviser again, showing that they have devoted at least 15 hours to their project.  They should also turn in a Service Verification Form signed by an adult.  The project will culminate with students presenting their projects on May 16th. All documents and information regarding the community project are on the school website under the “Students” tab."

     

    Theatre at East Millbrook presents Just Like Us by Craig Sodaro on April 27 at 7:00 PM and April 28 at 10:00 AM in the auditorium.  Admission at the door $5.00 Adults, $3.00 Students with concessions available in the lobby.  Join us in a celebration of a little peace, love, and understanding as we ask, "Are we really all that different?"  Let the journey begin...  

     

    Parents/Guardians we need proctors on May 30 and May 31, 2017 to help with EOG testing.  If you would like to sign up there is an online link on the school website or you may contact your student's guidance counselor.

     

    This week in sports:  Tuesday, April 25th is an away track meet at West Millbrook at 4:00 p.m.; Wednesday, April 26th is a home boys soccer game against West Millbrook at 4:00 p.m.; Thursday, April 27th is a home softball game against Pine Hollow at 4:00 p.m.  Let’s go out and support our Cougars!

     

    Please join us for the WCPSS Board Advisory Committee meeting on April 24th at 5:30PM, hosted by Durant Road Middle School.  We will get an overview of the 2017-2018 WCPSS budget.

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy families.  Welcome back from Spring Break! We hope that you have enjoyed this much-needed time with family and friends.  This is Terrence Canady, your administrative intern with important news and updates.

     

    Honor roll celebrations for A and A/B honor roll students will take place on Tuesday, April 18 in the Auditorium.  Sixth grade will be held at 11:45 am, 7th grade at 8:20 am and 8th grade at 9:20 am.  We look forward to seeing many families there on Tuesday, April 18.

     

    Attention 8th Grade Parents:

    A parent meeting for students attending the 8th grade DC trip will be held on Monday, April 17 at 6 pm in the auditorium. Please plan to attend.  Do not forget the 8th grade DC trip is April 19th – 21st.

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy families.  This is Terrence Canady your administrative intern with your news and updates for the upcoming week.

     

    Monday, March 27th will be Spring Sports pictures. Students have received instructions from Coach Pettiford.

     

    This week in sports we will have a home track meet Tuesday, March 28th against Durant Middle.  Wednesday, March 29th there is an away soccer game against Leesville at 4:00 p.m.  Thursday, March 30th there is an away softball game at Wakefield at 4:00 p.m. Let’s go out and support our Cougars.

     

    Please be reminded that Friday, March 31st is a regular school day!

     

    Parents, thank you for your help concerning the use of blankets at school. We would like to solicit your help in another area.  Back packs of any sort are NOT to be worn throughout the school day.  Students are to leave their backpacks in their lockers during the school day.  If students do not have a locker or lock, they need to see their homeroom teacher or grade level counselor.  Thank you for your help with this matter.

     

    Finally, Wednesday, March 29th marks the end of the 3rd 9 weeks of school.  We have had a successful school year thus far and we look forward to the continuation of success in the final 9 weeks of school.

    • 8th Grade Field Trip | The final Washington, DC payment of $85 is due on February 28th.  Students can turn in money before and after school or payments can be made online.  
    • Box Tops | We are still collecting box tops from your cereal and snack boxes! This fundraiser will run through the month of February. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 students collecting the most box tops. Turn in box tops in a ziploc bag with your student's name and homeroom teacher to the collection box in the main office in order to be in the running for a prize.

    Parents, we realize that Tuesday is Valentine’s Day; however, we cannot accept deliveries of any sort during the school day.

    Student Council is sponsoring Random Acts of Kindness Week February 13-17. Our goal is to increase positivity at East Millbrook and to also give the student council some visibility throughout the school. We would really appreciate your participation!


    Monday: Compliment Day—Compliment your teachers or friends, say thank you to a staff member, smile at three random people, hold the door open for someone.

    Tuesday: Candy Grams—Candy Grams were sold on Friday February 10th and will be delivered to students Tuesday, February 14th.

    Wednesday: Wear Pink—We are encouraging students to wear pink as a reminder to be kind to others.

    Thursday: Bring a Canned Good—We are collecting canned goods to be donated to Wake Relief. What better way to be kind than to help those in need throughout our own community? These can be taken to the front office or to Room 3908 any time this week.

    Friday: Random Acts of Kindness Day—We plan on using this time to “Tell Someone What Makes Them Awesome.”

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy families.  This is Terrence Canady your administrative intern with your news and updates for the upcoming week!

     

     

    We have an exciting week ahead of us as the Cougar nation embraces SPIRIT WEEK 2017. 

     

    Monday is COUGAR DAY – represent East Millbrook by wearing your navy blue and white!!

     

    Tuesday is TWIN DAY – dress just like your bestie!!

     

    Wednesday is BLAST FROM THE PAST – dress old school from any decade of your choice 60’s, 70’s, 80’s or 90’s!!!

     

    Thursday is GO PINK- wear pink to support the fight against breast cancer.  All students wearing pink shirts can get in the Battle of the Brooks game for $2.50!!!

     

    Friday is SUPERBOWL DAY – represent your favorite NFL team!!

     

    Please keep in mind that students must continue to uphold dress code policy while participating in spirit week!

     

     

    In sports news this week, East Millbrook will have an away basketball game on January 30th against Durant Middle at 4:00 p.m. and a home game on February 2nd against West Millbrook at 4:00 p.m.  Let’s come out and support our Cougars!

     

    Battle of the Books will practice February 1st from 2:30 – 3:30. 

     

    Theatre at East Millbrook presents King Midas and The Golden Touch, adapted from the Greek Myth by Vera Morris, on February 9, 2017 at 7:00 PM and February 10, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the East Millbrook Auditorium.  Admission at the door $5.00 Adults, $3.00 Students with concessions available in the lobby.  Be careful what you wish for.  You just might get it.  Let the journey begin...

     

    "It's that time again to collect box tops from your cereal and snack boxes. Box Top Drives are a great way to earn money for your school. There will be prizes awarded to the top 3 students collecting the most box tops. Turn in box tops in a Ziploc bag with your student's name and homeroom teacher to the collection box in the main office in order to be in the running for a prize." 

     

    8th grade parents, do not forget that the next payment for Washington D.C. is due January 31st to Mrs. Franklin.  You do have the option to pay online!

     

    Lastly, report cards will go home Friday, February 3rd.

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy families.  This is Terrence Canady your administrative intern with your news and updates for the week. 

     

    On Monday, December 12, 2016, we have an away basketball game at 4:00 p.m. against Wendell Middle.  Also on Thursday December 15, 2016 we have a home basketball game at 4:00 p.m. against Heritage Middle.  Let’s come out and support our Cougars. 

     

    Winter Sports pictures will be December 13th.  Please see Ms. Pettiford if you have any questions. 

     

    The Helping Hands Mentoring Program will meet this Tuesday, December 13th, in the media center at 2:30.  Pick up time is at 4:30. 

     

    Battle of the Books practice will be on December 14th from 2:30 – 3:30. 

     

    Our band concert will be Thursday, December 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.  Come out and enjoy the melodious sounds of our band students. 

     

    Carpool parents please keep in mind the letter that was handed to you.  If you have not received a letter concerning carpool, they are available in the front office.  Let’s be courteous during the merging of both lanes in our carpool.  We want our carpool to flow smoothly and we cannot do that without your help.  Our ultimate concern is the safe arrival of our students.  Please merge with caution and care.  This is just a reminder that all students who utilize carpool should be dropped off in the carpool lane.  No one is allowed to be dropped off on Hollenden Street or Spring Forest Road or in the bus loop.  This is for the safety of our campus!   Thank you for your cooperation!

    November 27th Phone Message to East Millbrook Families

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy families! This is Terrence Canady your administrative intern with your news and updates for the upcoming week. 

    Parents do not forget that this Friday December 2nd is early release day for East Millbrook.  Carpool parents, please prepare so that your child can be picked up at the appropriate time.

    We will have a PTA meeting on November 29th at 5:00 p.m. in the media center. The phantom fundraiser is still going on.  Do not forget that the winning homeroom class will receive a pizza party.  If you need a gold form please contact your child’s teacher. 

    Attention all 8th grade parents:  The second Washington DC payment of $100 is due on November 30th.  Please make checks payable to East Millbrook.  You may also pay online through the school’s website. 

    Battle of the Books practice will be held this Thursday December 1st from 2:30 – 3:30.

    Parents keep in mind that Wednesday Academy is in full swing.  Please speak with your child about utilizing this opportunity to grow.  If you have any questions or concerns, contact your child’s teacher for more information. 

    Save the date!  Our annual tradition is just around the corner as A Day with East Millbrook Arts at Triangle Town Center returns on Friday, December 2, 2016.  Enjoy performances and art on display inside Barnes & Noble from 5:30-8:00 PM and dine at California Pizza Kitchen throughout the day.  Participants are donating a portion of proceeds to support our awesome arts programs.  See you there!

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy Families.  This is yours truly Terrence Canady the administrative intern for East Millbrook Academy with this week’s updates and news.  We have had a full yet exciting week here at East Millbrook and we will continue to let the standard of excellence move us forward.   

    Parents, do not forget that Wednesday Academy is in full effect and students can take advantage of this enrichment opportunity with their teachers.  If you have any questions concerning Wednesday Academy please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

    As a reminder, please review with your child the message that was sent home Thursday concerning false fire drills.  We do not anticipate this happening again.

    Don’t forget that this week is Thanksgiving week.  Students will report to campus Monday and Tuesday of this week only.  Wednesday is a teacher workday. 

    Our next PTA meeting will be held Tuesday, November 29th @ 5 p.m. in the media center. 

    Thank you for all of your support and allowing us to lead your child into the best educational experience possible.  We hope that you have a great week and a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

    Good Evening East Millbrook Academy Families.  This is Terrence Canady your administrative intern with your updates and news for the week.   I hope that you have enjoyed your long weekend and have made preparations for a brand new start to our school week. 

    We have several event this coming week so please mark your calendars accordingly.

     

    Basketball tryout will begin November 14th.  The girls basketball tryouts are from 2:30-4:00 and the boys basketball tryouts are from 4:00 – 6:00.  All boys should report to Coach Baker-Hunt right after school for study hall. 

    The Board Advisory Council for District 3 will be meeting on November 14th at Brassfield beginning at 5:30. 

    Honor roll celebrations will be held by grade level this Tuesday November 15th.  Invitations to parents have been sent home with students who made the A or A/B honor roll.  The specific start times are as follows:  7th grade celebration will begin at 8:20; 8th grade celebration will begin at 9:20; and 6th grade celebration will begin at 11:48.  Congratulations to the students for allowing excellence to be their standard. 

    Also on November 15th is our choral concert at 7 p.m.  Please come out and enjoy some great music from our students.  The cost for entrance is adults $5.00 and students $3.00. 

    The fall sports banquet will be held on November 17th at 6 p.m.
