As the Career Development Coordinator (CDC) at Athens Drive,
my job deals with “School-To-Career” initiatives. What do I mean by “School-To-Career”? Well, every student is in “School” right now
and every student will have a “Career”.
I focus on the “To”!
There are many different paths people take to end up in a
career and I will argue two people’s path are never the same. Some students will go directly to a four year
College or University, some to a Community College or Technical School, some
will go to the Military, some will go directly into a career, and some will do
some sort of combination of these.
I will work with
students of Athens Drive High School on the following:
- Career Awareness
- Career Exploration
- Career Preparation
- Career Training
I will do these by:
- performing career assessments with students
- introducing resume writing skills
- reviewing networking skills
- preforming mock interviews
- providing “Career Related” guest speakers
- providing off-campus work based learning
- setting up job shadows
- overseeing internships
I will work closely with the ADHS Business Alliance to
provide all of these “School-To-Career” experiences. If you’re interested in becoming an ADHS
Business Alliance Member (comes to monthly meetings to assist in planning) or
becoming an ADHS Business Alliance Partner (participates in some of these
experiences, but not a member), please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
