Exploring FACS - Relationships and Childcare
Will give students the opportunity to explore the following Family and Consumer Sciences topics:
Visual Arts Exploratory
- Interpersonal Relationships – understand yourself, your family, and ways to communicate
- Child Development – opportunity for Red Cross Babysitter certification, ages, stages and the care of young children.
Students will explore the art of Europe, Russia, and South America through painting, drawing, sculpture, and collage.
Introduction to Dance
Students will explore creative movement, improvisation, and choreography through basic modern dance techniques.
Project Lead the Way
Students will receive an introduction of modeling software, design process, and techniques for representing solid objects.
Students will receive an
introduction to language and culture.
Students will experience choral music through daily rehearsals and a culminating informal/informing performance or “informance” for parents/families. Emphasis is placed on vocal technique, how to read music, and ensemble singing.
Computer Skills and Application I
Semester Long) Students will learn the touch method of keyboarding, basic digital literacy and computer knowledge, and basic word processing and document formatting skills. English Language Arts and Mathematics are reinforced.
Students will receive an introduction to language and culture. This course is intended as a link between the elementary Spanish programs or as an initial introduction to the language.
Olympics of Science and Math
Students will apply science and mathematics concepts and principles in innovative situations that enhance problem-solving skills. Students may have the opportunity to compete in local, regional, state, and national Science Olympiads.
Technology Design and Innovation
Students will apply the design process in the invention or innovation of a new product, process, or system.
