Growth of the WCPSS requires student assignment policies designed to accommodate new schools and utilization of existing facilities. At the same time, the policies are designed to maintain healthy academic environment. An analysis of how far the students are from the school they attend is an integral part of the reassignment process. The following pages show distance analysis for 22 individual high school, 2006-07.
 
 

Distance Analysis for Individual High Schools (pdf files)

Examples on the right show the distance analysis for Broughton High School. In the graph, on the left, each green dot represents a student going to that school by assignment, and each yellow dot represents a student going to that school by choice. Most come from areas close to the school. In the table on the right, accumulation is over one-mile wide concentric rings around the school, with breakdown of student attendance by assignment and by choice.
