Minutes
The minutes for the meeting of October 22, 1999 are as follows:
1. Introduction
Members of the committee gave their names, what organization they were with, and why they were in attendance.
2. Review of Minutes
The committee requested a list of members not in attendance.
3. Committee Operating Issues
The Wake County Public School System dedicated space on its website (http://www.wcpss.net/citizens_advisory), to post all information regarding the committee, such as the charge, members, meeting dates, and the minutes. The public may also post messages to the "Public Forum" on the NRAN website (http://www.nran.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro ).
4. Bus Tour
Ray Massey invited the committee members to go on a bus tour to all schools. The schedule was distributed.
5. Presentation
Ray Massey, Christina Lighthall, and Mike Burriss gave a presentation on capital building program needs and school construction.
6. Next Meeting
Oct. 29 at Wake Commons 2 - 5 p.m. The next three proposed meetings are:
- Nov. 12, 2-5 p.m.
- Nov. 19, 2-5 p.m.
- Dec. 3, 2-5 p.m.
- Dr. Jim Surratt will speak at the Oct. 29 meeting.
- Blount Williams and John Dornan may also speak at the Oct. 29 meeting.
- Copies of the April 1, 1999 document: "A Report on Capital Building Program Needs" will be provided at the Oct.29 meeting.
- It was suggested that the committee use the decision lab at the Wake County Public School System's central office.
Questions on School Construction Issues
- Lost time because of overcrowding.
- Lost construction time.
- Cost impact of delayed construction (due to bond referendum failure).
