Schools to close four hours early on Friday, January 25, due to threat of inclement weather

UPDATE: Due to inclement weather arriving in the Triangle earlier than initially anticipated, WCPSS will dismiss all schools four hours early today, Friday, January 25.

All athletic and extracurricular events scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been canceled or rescheduled, including:

  • SAT exams scheduled for several WCPSS high schools (SATs have been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16)
  • Duke TIP/Explore Test at Wakefield Elementary School (Parents will receive rescheduling information from ACT)

Students who have registered to take exams, including the ACT, in other school districts should check listings for that district.

All Wake County Public School System schools will close three hours early on Friday, January 25, due to the threat of inclement weather. All athletic and extracurricular events scheduled for Friday and Saturday are also canceled. SAT exams scheduled for Saturday, January 26, at several WCPSS high schools have been rescheduled for Saturday, February 16.

During Friday’s early dismissal, WCPSS buses will provide transportation home for students who ride by bus and parents will be able to pick up their children for rides home as they usually do. School staff members will stay with students at schools until arrangements have been made for each child to get home safely.

WCPSS will continue monitoring weather conditions and update information as needed.
