ALERT: Community lockdown lifted

Update, 11:56 a.m.:

The community lockdown for all Wake County schools has been lifted. All schools are back to Code Green or normal operation.

During the morning of January 30, we received word from the Wake County Sheriff’s Office that several schools should go into a community lockdown while law enforcement officials investigated an incident in the area. The following schools were placed on lockdown:

  • Lockhart Elementary
  • Knightdale Elementary
  • Forestville Road Elementary
  • Knightdale High School
  • East Wake High School
  • East Wake Middle School
  • Wendell Elementary School
  • Hodge Road Elementary

In a lockdown, exterior doors of the school are locked and no one is allowed to enter or exit the building until an all-clear announcement is received from police. During a Code Yellow lockdown, the school operates “business as usual” with the exception of no outside activities. These steps are taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our students and faculty. Once law enforcement gave us the all clear, the lockdown was lifted.
