The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has honored two Wake County high school girls’ soccer teams for academics.
Cary High and Wake Forest-Rolesville High students were among 225 teams nationwide honored for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2011-12 academic year.
To qualify for the award, the high school team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
Cary High had a team GPA of 3.96. Wake Forest Rolesville High had a team GPA of 3.59. The Cary soccer team is coached by Laura Kerrigan. The Wake Forest-Rolesville High team is coached by Deran Coe.
