Welcome to our refreshed website! We hope you like the changes! We’d love to know what you think. Please send us your thoughts by completing this feedback form. If you notice a mistake, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
The first thing you’ll notice on the new site is improved navigation. On our existing site, content was buried deep and housed in department specific channels. Most high levels pages were ‘link farms’ with little content or context. As a result, we relied on ineffective cross-linking to direct parents to important content.
The new site organizes content in audience-specific gateways. To achieve our goal of making information more accessible to parents, we created a new parent portal available in English and Spanish that contains everything a parent needs to know to navigate the school system, from lunch menus to bus routes.
A Fresh Appearance
We wanted to explore interesting ways to execute the visual design. The new homepage design balances the history and tradition of our school system with the youth and innovation of our schools and community.
The classic burgundy and gray palette was combined with new colors and tones that add a youthful and modern feel to the color scheme. Photography throughout the site portrays the values and ideas of our community and illustrates the context where learning takes place. Icons and visual elements were added to help users process information more efficiently.
The upper right hand corner of the website includes a link to an employee page with links to business applications, HR resources and benefit contacts. Additionally, staff can find quick links to the most frequently used applications at the footer of the web page.
For this launch, we’ve re-organized content and refreshed the look. That’s just the start. Over the next few months, we’ll continue to make improvements. We are working on editing the web content next, making sure all our information is comprehensive, easy to understand and accurate. We’ll add more visual enhancements, interactive features and online parent resources. We’ll also make changes in response to your feedback. Is something hard to find or difficult to understand? Let us know so we can fix it.
We are constantly striving to #BeMore and hope you enjoy using the new site.
