Brier Creek and Salem elementary schools earned honors at the first Celebrate Schools Event at The Streets at Southpoint. The two schools tied for first in a trivia contest. The Salem Salamander earned the school recognition and a $250 gift card in the mascot dance-off. Brier Creek earned a $100 gift card for garnering the most nominations for the $20,000 grant that mall management firm GGP will award in a drawing in November.
The Salem Elementary Skip Its jump rope team demonstrated their skills at the event. Morrisville Elementary had a STEM table where they shared student engineering projects.
The Streets at Southpoint worked with the schools during the two-day event and helped classroom teachers through supporting DonorsChoose.org projects. In September and October, Streets at Southpoint helped several classrooms by making direct donations to Donors Choose projects and through the mall’s matching program.
