Sanderson teacher subject of grad’s sandwich rap

Sanderson High art teacher Jeannette Stevenson got a surprise when she found a former student sang about her in a sandwich shop’s video contest. Josh Sinclair, Sanderson Class of 2003, won the contest and the grand prize of $1000 for both teacher and former student. The contest required a video to “honor the school teacher who made a meaningful difference in your life via an original song, performing a rap, a funny or heartfelt testimonial, or however you wish to showcase your passion through video.”

Stevenson describes Sinclair’s song as an awesomely original melodic rap. He raps that her style was fresh like a Lenny’s tomato and she piled on knowledge like Lenny’s piles on the meat. In his refrain, he sings,” Ms. Stevenson, I am your biggest fan. Let me buy you a sandwich.” He raps that the most important thing she taught was to do your best and love unconditionally.

Sinclair entered the contest on the Lenny’s Sub Shop Facebook page this month. The franchise operates in the southeast U.S. and has restaurants in N.C. in Charlotte and Asheville.
