Students and staff on the traditional calendar will have a vacation (annual leave) day tomorrow, March 25.
North Carolina’s school calendar law mandates ten annual leave days during the school year. Because Spring Break and the Good Friday holiday fell so late in April, the committee of parents and educators that developed the 2010-11 calendar recommended using one of those required vacation days in March. The calendar committee met in late 2008, and the school board adopted the calendar on March 9, 2009.
You can find out more about how school calendars are adopted in the March 2011 episode of The School Connection.
