Facilities

Facilities, led by Assistant Superintendent Mike Burriss, consists of Facility Planning and Design, Construction Management, Real Estate Services and Environmental Health and Safety.

Facilities works closely with principals and central office staff to assess Wake County Public School System's capital improvement needs. These needs then receive priority rankings from all the major departments within the school system, based on the following factors:

A building program and schedule are developed from these rankings and presented to the Wake County Board of Education for approval. The Board then asks the Wake County Board of Commissioners for appropriate funding.
