Impact if Approved by the Board of Education
Some reassignment of the year-round application transportation area is recommended to shorten the distance and reduce overcrowding at West Lake. Nodes southwest of Willow Springs will be reassigned from West Lake to Willow Springs for year-round applications. These nodes are closer to Willow Springs and approximately 75 students will be reassigned.

Reasons for Staff Recommendations
Capacity: No change is planned for the fourteen mobile units at this campus.
Crowding: The school is overcrowded and some applications to year-round cannot be accomodated. In calculating growth, the projection software applies the same growth factor to the year-round application students as it does to the students in base nodes. Since these are application students in a node and not base students, the impact of either losing or gaining students may not be as large as indicated.
Healthy Schools: The demographic mix of students was not a concern at this school in the development of these recommendations. The precentage of students from low-income families is low but comparable to neighboring schools.
Long Range Planning: The opening of Banks Road Elementary in 2009-10 will probably impact the assignment area for this school.
