Impact if Approved by the Board of Education
Approximately 106 students from nodes 585.2 and 585.3 will be reassigned from Wake Forest Elementary to Heritage Elementary. These nodes are adjacent to the Heritage Elementary site. The Board decided that Wake Forest Elementary continue to offer a traditional calendar option for applicants in the northern area of the county and that Wake Forest Elementary serve as an overflow school assignment if the Board of Education decides to cap enrollment at Forest Pines Elementary.

Reasons for Staff Recommendations
Capacity: No mobile units can be placed on this campus. A reduction in the school base will create space for applicants to this traditional calendar school.
Crowding: Crowding was not a concern at this school in the development of these recommendations
Healthy Schools: The percentage of students from low-income families will increase slightly from 25% to about 29%, slightly below the system average and comparable to neighboring schools.
Long Range Planning: The opening of E25 Elementary in 2010-11 will probably impact the assignment area for this school.
