Reasons for Staff Recommendations

Capacity: No mobile units can be placed on this campus.

Crowding: The school is overcrowded and staff believes both base area and magnet admissions need to be reduced for this school. In calculating growth, the projection software applies the same growth factor to the magnet application students as it does to the students in base nodes. Since these are application students in a node and not base students, the impact of either losing or gaining students may not be as large as indicated.

Healthy Schools: The percentage of students from low-income families is slightly lower than desirable for a magnet school. However, staff did not identify a change in base area to recommend at this time. Reduction in magnet school admissions may help bring this percentage closer to the system average.

Long Range Planning: Future schools opening in 2009, 2010, and 2011 are not expected to significantly impact the attendance area of this school.
