Impact if Approved by the Board of Education
The new base area for this year-round school will be composed of 455 students from Highcroft from nodes 394.1, 394.2, 394.3, 394.4, 394.5, 394.6 , 308 students from Green Hope from nodes 378.2 and 700.2, 62 students from Cary Elementary from node 370.8, and 50 students from Reedy Creek Elementary from node 369.4. A few students from Adams who live in the new base nodes will also be reassigned.

Reasons for Staff Recommendations
Capacity: This new school will have 51 instructional spaces.
Crowding: Crowding was not a concern at this school in the development of these recommendations
Healthy Schools: The Board decided that the new school will have a base area immediately around the school and additional areas assigned as base to provide a population of students from low-income families that will make the new school similar to other existing schools. The new assignments suggested by staff will result in about 18% of students at the new school coming from low-income families.
Long Range Planning: Some growth will continue to occur in the new base area for the school but most of the areas proposed for assignment to the school are developed and the planned year-round capacity should be adequate.
