Reasons for Staff Recommendations

Capacity:  No change is planned for the four mobile units at Green. Capacity will increase slightly through a reduction in the number of special needs classrooms.

Crowding:  Crowding was not a concern at this school in the development of these recommendations. In calculating growth, the projection software applies the same growth factor to the year-round application students as it does to the students in base nodes. Since these are application students in a node and not base students, the impact of either losing or gaining students may not be as large as indicated.

Healthy Schools:  The percentage of students from low-income families will remain above the system average at around 41% until additional applications to the Green year-round program occur.

Long Range Planning:  Green has lost significant portions of its year-round application area to the opening of new year-round schools. Staff believes the school needs a larger base area.
