Impact if Approved by the Board of Education
Approximately 308 students from nodes 378.2 and 700.2 will be reassigned to the new Mills Park Elementary. Node 700.2 is a new node created to consolidate a subdivision assigned to the new school. Socio-economic diversity in the school will be increased by reassigning 61 students from node 061.0 from Kingswood to Green Hope, 113 students from node 369.2 from Reedy Creek, and 34 students from nodes 141.1 and 142.0 from Underwood.

Reasons for Staff Recommendations
Capacity: No change is planned for the nine mobile units at Green Hope.
Crowding: Crowding was not a concern at this school in the development of these recommendations
Healthy Schools: The percentage of students from low-income families is currently very low at 6%. Staff has recommended changes that should raise this percentage to approximately 19%, which will make this school similar to neighboring schools.
Long Range Planning: Green Hope will lose part of its base area to the new Mills Park Elementary for next year. The future opening of Alston Ridge Elementary will probably lead to further reduction in the schools' base area.
