Impact if Approved by the Board of Education
Approximately 91 students from nodes 384.9 and 412.4 will be reassigned from Farmington Woods to Briarcliff. Approximately 84 students from nodes 049.0 and 139.0 will be reassigned from Farmington Woods to Turner Creek. Approximately 57 students from Lynn Road who live in nodes 146.1, 146.2, 147.0 and 149.0 and 17 students from Jeffreys Grove who live in node 148.0 will be reassigned into Farmington Woods. This should result in a net reduction of about 101 students assigned to Farmington Woods, increasing the number of seats available to magnet school applicants.

Reasons for Staff Recommendations
Capacity: No change is planned for the thirteen mobile units at Farmington Woods.
Crowding: Farmington Woods is currently operating over capacity and staff believes the base area assigned to the school should be reduced. A combination of a reduction in the base area and control of magnet program admissions should control future crowding.
Healthy Schools: As a magnet school, the percentage of students from low-income families in the base area assigned to Farmington Woods should be slightly higher than the system average and balanced through magnet school admissions. The recommended reassignments from Farmington Woods to Turner Creek will make Turner Creek more similar to other schools.
Long Range Planning: Farmington Woods is a magnet school with a large base. The changes suggested by staff will provide more access to the magnet program for applicants by reducing the base area of the school.
