Reasons for Staff Recommendations

Capacity:  The addition of two six-classroom modular units has been initiated by staff and leads to the increase in the capacity at Dillard Elementary. Core facilities will support this expansion.

Crowding:  Overcrowding will be eliminated and seats can be made available for applicants to the traditional calendar program.

Healthy Schools:  Changes suggested by staff will lead to a small decrease in the percentage of low-income students at Dillard from 38% to 35% and a rise in the percentage at Oak Grove from 9% to 19%. The exchange of students recommended by staff allows Dillard to serve areas closer to the school and reduce the size of base assignments to Hunter, which is a magnet school.

Long Range Planning:  Future schools opening in 2009, 2010, and 2011 are not expected to significantly impact the attendance area of this school.
