Impact if Approved by the Board of Education
Briarcliff will send approximately 102 students from nodes 371.2, 371.6, and 383.4 to the new Laurel Park Elementary. Briarcliff will send approximately 44 students from node 445.3 to Salem Elementary. Briarcliff will send approximately 11 students from node 068.0 to Jeffreys Grove. Briarcliff will receive approximately 91students from nodes 384.9 and 412.4 from Farmington Woods, resulting in a net gain of about 19 students and leaving room for approximately fifty traditional calendar application students. Because nodes 371.2 and 371.6 were reassigned to Briarcliff within the past three years, students from those nodes will receive priority for placement at Briarcliff if they apply to Briarcliff as their traditional calendar option.

Reasons for Staff Recommendations
Capacity: Briarcliff's capacity is being increased through the addition of four mobile classrooms.
Crowding: Moderate crowding can be controlled through the application process for traditional calendar seats.
Healthy Schools: Briarcliff's percentage of low-income families will fall from approximately 39% to 31% and it will be similar to neighboring schools.
Long Range Planning: Future schools opening in 2009, 2010, and 2011 are not expected to significantly impact the attendance area of this school.
