Base Nodes Out:
Reasons for Staff Recommendations
Capacity: No change is planned for the five mobile units at Brentwood until the Board of Education adopts a long-range plan for populating the school.
Crowding: Crowding was not a concern at this school in the development of these recommendations.
Healthy Schools: Brentwood has very high percentages of low-income families and families who are limited in their English proficiency. The Board decided that the base area be reduced by reassigning a node that results in a reduction of the percentage of high needs families, and also recommends that the Board initiate a process for examining possible future alternatives such as implementation of a magnet program at the school.
Long Range Planning: Future schools opening in 2009, 2010, and 2011 are not expected to significantly impact the attendance area of this school.
