Impact if Approved by the Board of Education
Approximately 159 students from nodes 381.1 and 381.7 will be reassigned from Baucom to the new Laurel Park Elementary school.

Reasons for Staff Recommendations
Capacity: No change is planned for the ten mobile units at Baucom.
Crowding: Baucom will operate at below its year-round capacity until further residential growth in its base area occurs. Spot node assignments from Apex to Baucom will continue to be recommended as needed to prevent overcrowding at Apex Elementary.
Healthy Schools: The percentage of students from low-income families is lower than neighboring schools and staff will continue to look for possible recommendations that will raise that percentage when new schools are opened in the future.
Long Range Planning: Future schools opening in 2009, 2010, and 2011 are not expected to significantly impact the attendance area of this school.
