Wake County Public School System Receives $43,000 Grant

Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded a $43,000 grant to the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) for a special teleconferencing program between Green Hope High School and Knightdale High School.

WCPSS will use the grant to develop distance education labs at each school that will allow students at both high schools to simultaneously participate in advanced courses that might not be offered at their respective schools.

“Lowe’s is committed to recognizing and supporting efforts that enrich the lives of our neighbors and customers,” said Larry D. Stone, chairman of Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation. “By supporting schools like Green Hope High School and Knightdale High School, we believe we are contributing to a cause that’s important to our customers and employees and helping build a stronger foundation for the children who will be tomorrow’s employees, homeowners and community leaders.”

“Lowe’s generosity exemplifies their dedication to community involvement,” said Ron Margiotta, Chairman of the Wake County Board of Educations. “These funds will allow Green Hope and Knightdale High Schools to expand their academic offerings, and provide students with greater opportunities.”

Since its inception in 1957, Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has helped communities nationwide through employee volunteerism and financial contributions. In 2009, Lowe’s and the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation together contributed more than $30 million to support community and education projects in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
