It’s been just over a year since we established the WakeCountySchools channel on YouTube. After taking a few weeks to figure out how to use it, we started pushing our video content — primarily The School Connection and ParentVision video podcasts — to the channel. 13,171 viewed videos later, it seems like a pretty convenient way for parents and other outside audiences to stay connected with WCPSS.
“Outside” is a key word, of course. Generally speaking, YouTube content isn’t accessible from inside the WCPSS network. The challenge with sites like YouTube is that there’s a lot of distracting or inappropriate content for K-12 students, although a process exists to allow access for unique situations. For internal audiences, all our YouTube videos are also available on the WCPSS website.
In the meantime, if you see a video you like, please feel free to share it or embed it on your website. We hope to continue presenting information that helps you get to know your schools better, as well as helping you support your child in school.
