The Wake County Public School System had 249 educators earn certification or re-certification this school year from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
Superintendent Del Burns and school system leaders congratulated the teachers at a Feb. 10 reception.
WCPSS had 197 educators earn certification. With this latest round of certification, the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards reports that they have certified a total of 1,702 WCPSS teachers.
WCPSS had 52 educators earn re-certification this year. After 10 years, National Board certified teachers must submit a portfolio of their accomplishments as teacher leaders to maintain the distinction.
Broughton High media specialist Erica Spain is one of the educators who earned re certification this year.
