WCPSS Students Entertain at Bowl Games

WCPSS students have had a chance to participate in some of the college football bowl games during half time shows. Students from Green Hope High and Leesville Road High went bowling this year.

Leesville Road High has a Dance group under the direction of Cynthia Hoban that was selected to perform Tuesday, Jan. 5 during the half time show with Kool & the Gang at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida

The Green Hope High School marching band, under the direction of Brian Myers, performed during the pre-game and halftime ceremonies at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida on January 1. The Falcon Regiment was one of eight high school bands that were chosen nationally to participate in the Gator Bowl festivities.

The band marched in the Gator Bowl parade on New Years’ Eve. In both the field show and parade competitions, Green Hope received first place, and they received the Sweepstakes award for the highest overall score. They were given the honor of performing an excerpt of their show before kick-off at the Gator Bowl game. They received first place awards in the areas of colorguard, music, marching, and general effect in the parade, and colorguard, drum major, percussion, music, marching, and general effect for the field show competition.
