Hunter Magnet Elementary Students Study Art of Bren Bataclan

Boston artist Bren Bataclan worked with Hunter Magnet Elementary students as an Artist in Residence painting a mural in the school and coaching all the school’s students in drawing exercises.

Bataclan visited the school as part of the City of Raleigh New Year Celebration and then Hunter’s PTA and educators worked to extend his stay at the school.

Bataclan has received global attention for his signature paintings, which he randomly leaves throughout various cities as a way to brighten the lives of those who pick them up. The paintings are part of the “free art” movement. Bataclan began the Smile Boston project in 2003 and has since left his paintings across the US and in over 30 countries.
