At its January 5 meeting, the Board of Education named Tripp Crayton principal at Wakefield High, Winston Pierce principal at Farmington Woods Elementary and retired principal Jane Currin as interim principal at Durant Road Middle.
Crayton has served as principal of Wakefield Middle since 2007. Prior to that, he was assistant principal at Wakefield High. Earlier he worked as an assistant principal and teacher in the Durham Public Schools.
Pierce has served as principal of Wendell Elementary since 2005. Prior to that, she was assistant principal at Millbrook Elementary, an assistant principal intern at Douglas Elementary and a teacher at Bugg Elementary.
Currin has served as a Leadership Facilitator with the Leadership Group of the Carolinas since 2003. Prior to that, she was principal of Asheville High in Buncombe County. Earlier she was principal of Sanderson High for eight years and an assistant principal and teacher at Broughton High.
The board named the following assistant principals: Melissa Thomas at Sanderson High, Betty Liverman at Fox Road Elementary Brian Gwyn at Apex Middle and Che-Von Stone at Leesville Road Elementary.
