Hundreds of families gathered at Cary High School this morning to help their new ninth grade students prepare for the start of the school year.
Cary High was holding a freshman camp to help prepare its newest students for high school, answer questions about their class schedules, give them tours of the campus and help them meet new friends.
Assistant Principal Elaine Rogers organized teambuilding games, tours and panel discussions for the event.

Cary High staff sported CHS green outfits and families were given a chance to join in the wearing of the green.

Principal Doug Thilman told families they had joined in the tradition of the state’s oldest high school and that their success depended on their hard work. Thilman promised plenty of support from teachers and staff.

Students got to meet each other as they took part in teambuilding exercises like this game of caterpillar tag.
