Wake County Teacher of the Year Paige Elliott was honored at Fuquay-Varina High School this afternoon as the Regional Teacher of the Year, making her one of nine teachers in contention for North Carolina Teacher of the Year.
The recognition came with a check for $5,000 and the opportunity to participate in national education conferences representing the state. Students cheered when Elliott was surprised with the announcement in the school's auditorium. She was honored with a reception in the school media center.
